Too many projects in the pipeline

Multitasking creates time delays, costly mistakes, and quality problems in outputs because of the inability of team members to do many jobs at once. Goldratt says that new product projects should be sequenced and completed one at a time, not in parallel with each other. Whatever the approach to deciding when to introduce new product projects into an already busy workforce, a company needs to develop a way to assess the capacity of the workforce to take on new work. The most effective way to guage the readiness of a team for new product work is to ask them if they can handle it. The best indicator of an overworked team is a high incidence of errors in routine tasks.
