Quality assurance

Quality assurance is the process of building quality into the definition, design, production, and testing of the product deliverable. Quality assurance procedures provide for testing, verifying, and validating work as its progresses, not later in project monitoring and appraisal. In effect, quality assurance builds quality into the deliverable so that quality practices are indistinguishable from all other design and production practices.

Quality assurance is implemented through a variety of statistical, testing, verifying, and validating procedures to ensure that work is done right the first time, that it meets necessary tolerances and standards, that it performs consistently against both the specification and the expectation of the customer, and that it works in the customer's work setting.
