and identifies overarching performance goals for the portfolio. Portfolio managers determine specific projects to launch, monitor, and measure. And based on performance measurements and external conditions, the IM team validates or redirects the investment strategy.

Organizations frequently have multiple portfolios. Typically a portfolio represents a category of investment or a business unit. The IM team of executives provides strategic investment direction, funding and performance requirements, and review to all portfolio managers in the enterprise.
