Once an integrated master schedule (IMS) has been created and approved, there are many management activities that must occur to achieve full integration.
Set the baseline. The baseline establishes a "benchmark" of the program plan, thereby allowing the initiation of schedule performance measurement, and risk evaluation, to begin. That benchmark is also tied to the customer requirements.
Recurring schedule status. The status determines the amount of work that has been started completed, or how much work in progress (WIP) has been completed of an ongoing task. Earned value assessment is a part of this process along with the determination of the earned value (EV) or budgeted cost of work performed (BCWP).
