Making Decisions about Your Project Server Setup

Before your project server administrator sets up Project Server, you need to make a few decisions. Your organization requires a lot of information before deploying Project Server. Some questions to consider:

• How many people do you expect to use Project Server, including from Project Professional and from Project Web Access?

• Can users use Project Server authentication, Windows NT authentication, or both?

• Do users from outside your corporate intranet require access to Project Web Access or Project Server?

• Will you be using Project Web Access for team collaboration?

• Will you be using the Windows SharePoint Services Document Library, Risks and Issues features as part of your Project Web Access setup?

• Will you be using enterprise features? Which enterprise features?

• How often do you want to build or update OLAP cubes?

• If you're using enterprise features, do you want to set up Analysis Services for the Portfolio Analyzer and Portfolio Modeler feature?
