The Systems Analyst

Systems analysts are important resources to have on any project that involves complex, technical IT systems. They have considerable knowledge in information technology and are able to communicate both written and verbal instructions. Before deciding to employ a systems analyst, it is important that the project manager first understand what the systems analyst can contribute during an analysis phase of a project. Systems analysts perform the following roles:

They assist in determining system resource requirements. They direct the work of the programmers or fellow systems analysts. They develop functional and technical analysis for large projects or systems and provide recommendations to the development manager or project manager.

They review and develop flowcharts and data models from which applications will be developed, compiled, tested, and implemented. They assist in developing procedures for an application.
