Test and Quality Plan

Quality management is necessary to ensure that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken and exceed customer expectations. It describes how the project team should implement its quality policy and helps guarantee that all project team members understand that everyone is a partner in quality.

An audit should be performed periodically to verify that processes and procedures are in compliance and that the necessary quality review meetings are established to review and make corrective adjustments to the project. Checklists should be developed to ensure that project plans are complete and to eliminate the omission of items. Reports relevant to the quality management of the project should be created and distributed to all project stakeholders describing the following areas:

• Quality objectives within the scope of the project

• Quality management organization, roles, and responsibilities

• Documentation requirements

• Quality control procedures

• Applicable standards

• Tools, techniques, and methodologies to be employed

The testing manager should develop the test plan, and it should cover all anticipated testing activities. These activities should be synchronized with the overall high-level project schedule. The resources should be identified and correctly matched to the relevant tasks. This plan is beneficial for the project manager, who should be able to identify the needed testing tasks and have a good understanding of the testing process. The testing plan should be developed for each project phase and should consist of the minimum:

• Project objective

• Objective of tests being addressed in this strategy

• Test procedures

• Test configuration

• Test resources

• Test schedule
