Performance or Stress Test

During the life of any IT project, there are times when the project manager must use existing resources (e.g., servers, desktop equipment, etc.), primarily due to budgetary constraints on purchasing new equipment. These resources will have a severe impact on a project if the system performance or volumes cannot be achieved. In order to verify that these resources can perform as required, the team conducts performance, load, and stress testing to determine if there are specific problems that would affect the project. Based on results of this test, tweaking of the system may be necessary. In a worse case scenario, if this tweaking does not work, the project manager must purchase replacement equipment immediately.
