Developing New Solutions

Developing an entirely new solution is always the highest risk for any client or contractor, and it should not be started without a formal assessment and completion of a (1) ROI, (2) BCA, and a (3) risk analysis. Depending upon the complexity of the solution, it may be appropriate to seek risk-sharing with the client. There are several situations that justify developing a new solution.

There is nothing currently available on the market that meets the client requirements.

The new solution offers crucial advantages in strategic business areas. The project has the required skills and experience to handle a nonstandard solution.

It strategically exceeds the client's competitors.

It offers business advantages that are sustainable over time.

Re-engineering the process to work with a standard solution is not appropriate or represents a high risk.

The new solution provides a clear market differentiation.
