If the deviation isn' t going to make a dent in the scope, then it' s OK to implement the deviation and get on with your project. However, some deviations may significantly alter the scope—especially if you' re altering tasks that are on the critical path. When an alteration is made to any task, activity, or phase on the critical path, if there' s an adjustment to the duration, then the entire project is affected. It' s highly important to define how the deviation will affect the rest of the project.
