Resource Breakdown Structure

Just as there is a Work Breakdown Structure, so also is there a Resource Breakdown Structure. Figure 5.5 gives a simple example.

The Resource Breakdown Structure is used to assist in not only resource estimation but also cost estimation. The Resource Breakdown Structure is determined by the job families, which are defined by the human resource department. That definition is simply put into this hierarchical framework and used as the basis for identifying the positions and levels that are needed to staff the project and from that constructing the staffing budget.
